I’m Kayla - I love my family, Mexican food, karaoke… and taking pictures!
I was born and raised in the Lower Mainland and moved to the interior with my husband when we were pregnant with our daughter in 2017.
Art, in some or another, has always been a big part of my life. I was so lucky to attend the local art school growing up where I was able to try my hand at many different art forms. My first love was theatre - it gave me a chance to be a total weirdo, make people laugh and most importantly, tell stories!
I LOVE telling stories.
Storytelling is pretty much what drew me into photography. I have always loved taking pictures… not really in an artistic way, but to capture all the little moments in my life. I am a veeeeeeerryyyyy nostalgic and sentimental person (hello Pisces!) so taking pictures was my way of having memories that I can hold onto forever (literally… because I’m an old lady and back in my day we only had film!) When I took photography as an elective in eleventh grade, I started learning more about photography as art!
It remained a hobby of mine for over a decade… until 2021! The perfect storm of living in a new city, being on maternity leave and being well into our second year of the virus that must not be named seemed to be just enough chaos for me to say “fuck it” to my imposter syndrome and add “starting a business” into the mix!
And I’m SO glad I did!
